True Grit- One of the best movies of the year!! a must see

Wow- True Grit blew me away! The acting, the dialogue, everything was just spot on.  Jeff Bridges is just getting better and better…i had just seen him in Tron Legacy and then here he is as an old marshall with a crazy drawl.  I can easily see both he and Hailee Stanfeild the little girl in the movie both getting oscar noms.  She was a wonder to watch…for a rookie actress to hold her own against Bridges and Matt Damon  is eye opening.  Damon was funny in his role as the Texas ranger too.  I know i’m saying the word funny a lot..but dont get me wrong it really is a good drama/action movie as well.

The movie itself had plenty of action..lots of funny dialogue (but you have to really listen close as its a language thats hard to follow a bit –any fans of the HBO series Deadwood wont have any trouble) ..and my favorite- a good ending to close it off!

Go see this now and im sure you’ll agree..the Cohen brothers did it again.

The Fighter- Christian Bale shockingly good- and good overall movie

I liked The Fighter…it was a little slow/long feeling as the story progressed but was really good.  I do wish there was some more focus and action in the actual fight scenes ..but the movie wasnt really about that.  It was about the relationship between Mark Wahlbergs character (micky) and his brother (Dicky) who Christian Bale does an AMAZING job portraying.

I was blown away by seeing his skill..he went from being  a big strong Batman character to playing a strung out junkie in this movie..and its seriously amazing to see him do his thing.  Im sure he will get an oscar nod for this!  He’s gonna have to gain tons of weight back to play batman again!

If you are a fan of true comeback stories, and a fan of christan bale and mark wahlberg go see this!  Amy Adams was great too.  If you are hoping for a boxing movie thats nothing but fights..this wont be your cup of tea.

See the small clip during the credits to see the real life Dicky and Micky and you’ll see how well Christian Bale played him

Tron Legacy- awesome movie with a Soundtrack that almost steals the show!

Before i get into talking about how much i liked Tron Legacy–i have to talk about its soundtrack.  Ive always been a HUGE believer that the music and soundtrack in a movie and even in trailers- is one of the most important elements.  Daft Punk did the entire Tron Legacy soundtrack and it was perfect! Just simply perfect…it fit the techno environment and the beats really kept you excited …The first thing i did when i got home was download it.

Ok now the movie itself..loved it.  The visual effects and CGI was amazing..the whole digital world was very cool…had enough homage to the original movie but totally modernized the designs.  The only drawback i saw was the CGI of Jeff Bridges as the younger version of Flynn..it just still looked obviously CGI and not well done when u look at how amazing the rest of the visuals in the movie were..they spent hundreds of milliions of dollars on this ..and ended up that once piece of CGI stuck out as looking cheaply done.  It looked exactly like the human CGI faces in Beowulf…opposite real life actors just was odd.

But the rest of the visuals and movie made up for this.  Tons of action..great fight and light cycle scenes! exactly what you’d want in the sequel to Tron.

You dont have to be a fan or even know much of the old movie to like this so i’d def recommend it…and def the soundtrack for it

Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows- Darker, more adult- and really good!

I gotta say..i really liked Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows–the whole movie felt more adult..darker..and made for a much better feel to the movie!  The fight scenes were better and there was even some killing/death and making out between Harry and the girl.

The overall movie really has a sense of foreboding and was full of action.  I think its probably the most adult of all the movies and thus really good for those of us out of our tweens to go see

I recommend seeing it at an IMAX..the screen and sound really adds to the effects in the film.

Definitely go see this…but if you have little kids be careful this one may not be their cup of tea

Faster- Delivers on what it promises- great just strait up action with The Rock

I liked Faster.  For one thing..the Rock is back at what he does best..action movies!  He needs to stick with this..because he’s great at it.  And honestly Faster delivers exactly on what you expect..its an action movie..and nothing else.

Sure there were some odd parts..the really annoying piece of the movie was the hitman…talk about an odd random character, bad acting..and really in the end no point to having it in the film!   But other than that the rest of the movie was great.  It was unique in that there was no slow down …from get go the Rocks character is off killing people with no stopping him.  The only other unfortunate thing is they never explain much about the Rock’s character’s background ..i.e why is he so bad ass and good at killing?  They reference his tattoos in the movie but never really explain what they mean.

If you are looking for a ton of story and plot lines and really drama..this is not your movie.  But if you are a Rock fan…want to see a hard hitting, gun fighting movie..this is going to satisfy you
